Amsterdam Xmas Markets Cancelled 2016

I just got a Certified letter from AMA stating that the 'local authorities in Amsterdam' cancelled the Amsterdam Christmas markets for 2016. The letter was postmarked November 18, 2016. For me, not a great disappointment as I prefer the German markets. (Gold Star to AMA for good customer communication!)

But, there is no such mention on the internet except that the Rembrandtplein Market will be closed in 2016.

Does anyone know more about this?

Amsterdam was never known for christmasmarkt, as almost any place in The Netherlands. It snot a dutvh tradition. Most dutch go to Germany for those markets.
