Celebrity Summit Casino

We recently returned from a cruise on the Celebrity Summit. I am not sure if the Summit is representative of all Celebrity ships, but I am sorry to report that the casino was a major disappointment. On the plus side, the casino (and the almost the entire ship for that matter) is non-smoking. If you are a non-smoking gambler, that is very appealing. Another plus was the casino staff; unlike some ships, they were knowledgeable and well trained on table game etiquette, rules and pay outs. Unfortunately the slot machines were an absolute disaster. Every single machine was a $01 to $.05 variable denomination. If you're looking for the great quarter "wheel of fortune", "double and triple diamond deluxe", "wild cherry" and all the other great "old school" machines, you will not find them on this ship. These things were not fun; slots should be mindless entertainment with an occasional cherry or some bars to keep you playing - for at least a while. These things made no sense and gobbled money at a fast pace. The casino staff said that there were many complaints about the machines and most sat idle during peak casino hours. If you're looking to have some fun playing slots, reconsider Celebrity cruise line.

I agree with you 100%. Celebrity Summit is the worst casino at sea....mind you I am a Celebrity "cheerleader" and the Celebrity Summit is my all-time favorite ship. I have been on her 5 times and have two more planned for 2013...........

That being said I have never encountered such terrible slot machines and such a rude casino host.

To become a "Blue Chip" player on the Celebrity Summit from what I can tell is impossible. After losing 5,000.00 in October I was brushed off as if I were shaking a cup outside the train station.

The casino host, who was no where to be found the entire cruise told me I would need to play $25.00 per spin for three hours....she was also quite impressed with the fact that only one person on the entire ship qualified for "Blue Chip" on my sailing and remember this was a sailing out of NYC...wit a lot of what I consider to be high rollers.......

Remember, although I don't play $25.00 per spin I do often play for a lot longer than 3 hours........ Mind you ...none of the crappy slots that they have in their casino are capable of being played for $25.00 per spin........there are basically no dollar machines and instead there are some of the weirdest penny machines that no one has ever heard of.......

Oh and good luck is you want to gamble after 1:00 am......... Day after day we were being told to leave the casino between 1:00 am and 1:20 am...... One night there was fifty people in the casino and they went arount telling everyone to leave. They were so nasty and arrogant about it.......... So many people were up in arms about the early closing every single night.....some even went to guest relations about it........ I was so beyond that ....I knew if I went to guest relations, I was so furious, that I would regret it!!!!!!!

At the end of the cruise I had 14,000 points and I was told I didn't qualify.......

Ironically five weeks later I was on the Oasis of the Seas which is a ship from the parent company and I qualified for their club on night two..........

Also, on NCL qualified for a free cruise and in addition an entry in the 1,000,000.00 slot tournament cruise this year. NCL has the best casinos....late hours......multiple perks......... They zeroed in on me immediately and got me spa treatments, specialty dinning....drinks........

Carnival as well...... and that was after a 4 day cruise........

I will never ever step foot in the Celebrity Summit casino again......as a matter of fact I usually run the slot pulls for my roll calls and the last one I did we had sixty participants.........that wass the last one because I won't give them another dime..........

No real players would ever play in their casino.....and I am sure their revenues will collapse.......

They have turned their casino....which really wasn't bad before the reno....into amatuer night every night....... you know the scene.....one twent dollar bill and four people hitting the button........that is all well and good but if Celebrity wanted a real casino they would take care of their players........

I was on the Summit 2 years ago but I'm a craps player. The craps table was the worst I've ever played on anywhere in my life. It was as bouncy as a trampoline. I saw one good player have 5 throws in a row bounce off the table and onto the floor. Slot machines were very close to the craps table and the dice were sometimes difficult to find.

This was the first ship that I've ever rated do not ever book it again in this lifetime.

I was told by their casino management that I should try one of the newer ships that the craps tables might be somewhat less bouncy on them. I haven't taken them up on that yet.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Dicenator:My wife and I are booked to go to Bermuda on the Summit next year. I have had good experiences in the Casino of Celebrity ships. The Constellation was real good to me. The Silhouette not so much. Had a good time in the casino and had a nice time with fellow Casino rats. Seems like I should use a shorter roll and let the dice bounce toward the wall.

My throw is underhand with a landing area about 24" from the wall. My very first throw on the Summit the dice bounced back at least 3 feet from the wall. I ended up targeting 36" from the wall and still had a hard time keeping them close. Nobody on the cruise when I was on it could keep the dice close to the wall and everybody except for me had them bouncing off the table onto the floor. Hopefully they have changed the table since I was on it.

I played craps on the Summit and did not notice anything unusual about the table. But unfortunately there wasn't one decent game with a full compliment of players or any table energy all week; this is something I have noticed on every ship I have been on in the past few years. I am beginning to believe that it is the time of year that we are cruising - late November to early December.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO rucard1s:I don't think it is the time of year. We, my wife and I, have been on cruises in that time frame and didn't notice any drop off in casino play at that time of year.It may have had something to do with your itinerary or the people that went on the ship at the same time you did.

My preference is for no more than 3 players at a craps table when I'm playing. I want the dice coming back to me a a regular basis. If the table gets up to 6 or more players I leave and come back when the population decreases back down. I was on the Carnival Miracle in November and I was the only regular craps player. I played more hands with only me on the table than any other cruise I've been on. Back in August I was on the Carnival Valor and the craps table was filled quite a lot of the time. Some evenings I left 3 times due to too many players.

On most of the cruises that I've been on there have been on average maybe 4 regular players with quite a few coming in for short periods of time.

Do they still have them on summit? Saw nothing about them anywhere I read.

No midnight buffet on Summit. I would suggest if you are hungry to eat earlier in the day because there is virtually nothing available after about 10 pm with the excedption of room service or sweets from cafe al Baccio.

The Fortunes Casino on the Summit was changed when they drydocked the Summit in 2011, and unfortunately the slots were replaced by programmable video slots with penny denominations. While adding SOME of these would be fine, because they certainly have an audience...why not include some reel machines with 25c or $1 or even higher denoms, too?

The tables on the Summit are consistently fun and professionally-run, and the craps table - though bouncy - had a good vibe. I played for hours and went up a grand, down a grand, up again, and finished ahead a few hundred, but it was fun. Lots of players cycled through, most for 15 minutes or less and many people who had never played...the staff was accomodating and slowed the game a little to explain it, and I think the new players left with a good feeling about craps.

Video poker on the ship is good and there are some variations onboard to keep it interesting. I recall Game King, Super Times Pay, and Ultimate X.

Anyone with feedback on the blackjack conditions? Assuming they have shoe games with 8 decks and 3:2 payouts? CSM's? Number of player spots at a table? (the fewer the better!) Do they really close the casino at 1am? Any information is appreciated.

They give you a warning a bit before 1:00 that they will be closing in 20 minutes.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO 20pluscruises:When we were on the Summit last year the Casino closed later than 1 or 1:30.

I think it may depend on how busy the casino is...or maybe the host? Do you remember how late it was open until? I seem to hit the cruises where they close up by 1:30. I also notice if the poker tables are near empty they start with the "we're closing in 20 minutes"

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO 20pluscruises:When I'm there it usually stays open until 0200 hours or 0230 hours. Once I was on a cruise on the Carnival Miracle and on a sea day we left the Casino at 0300 hours. That was really unusual.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO 20pluscruises: Yes, there were other tables that had people playing, but, several of us at the craps table were hungry so we went to the Lido Deck and got some pizza. Needless to say, most of us slept late that day. It didn't matter since it was a sea day and before they decided to have the Sea Day Brunch.
