dinner on new years day in Galveston ?

Hi friendly folks!

I would love to go to the "original" in Galveston for dinner. Any chance it may be open Jan 1? I am having difficulty deciding where to go for our one night pre-cruise dinner. My hubby loves mexican and seafood. I don't want to spend a fortune but would love something truly authentic to the island, either Mexican or seafood. Any ideas? Two teenage boys in tow too!

I am sure we will go to "Original Mexican" in the next few days as it is a staple for "comfort" food. Will ask if they will be open on the 1st.

Thank you Galveston Cruiser! Much appreciated! We are looking forward to our New Year's Day pre-cruise in Galveston...I wish we had more time! We will want to tour around in the morning before embarkation. We are staying at the Tremont and I can't wait to visit Texas.

Had our weekly comfort food last night at Original Mexican and they confirmed they are open New Years day. They are only closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas days.

Yes, Gaido's is good, but their Pelican Club is better.
