Locals as City Guides

I need help with information about locals (individuals) who provide free tours of their local city. I read a posting that mentioned a website that provides the names of people who are interested in their cities and make tours available.

The site listed cities in Europe, Canada, US and many other areas. This seems like a great idea without having a formal structured tour.

I have never done these walks as I have limited mobility. However, my friends have done them in lots of various cities. They have found the guides via the local tourist office or just by Googling.

A great source is trip advisor.

Google (other search engines are available) is your friend. Search for "free walks in ?????" and you are likely to get a number of results.

Note that they don't make a charge, but you are usually 'expected' to give a tip.
