LuckyZ Posted April 12, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2013 i received a letter in the mail with the Norweigian logo on the top indicating that as part of a Grand Opening in my area, I was slated for a free 7 day, 6 night cruise, and if I called within 72 hours, I would also get 2 free airline tickets. On the bottom of the backside of the letter in small print indicates that this promotion is not sponsored by NCL but they are a major supplier, and that I would be responsible for any deposits, port charges, taxes and/or fees. Anybody else get this? Sounds like a scam to me.
DDMau Posted April 12, 2013 #2 Share Posted April 12, 2013 Buyer Beware! I have had the same thing, and some with other cruise line logo's as well.

granger Posted April 13, 2013 #4 Share Posted April 13, 2013 Don't phone...it's a scam. I think the phone number is connected to the scam, it gets re routed somehow and you end up with a hefty phone bill.
Love my butler Posted April 13, 2013 #5 Share Posted April 13, 2013 NCL has very few 6 night cruises. It's a scam.
jingle5616 Posted April 13, 2013 #6 Share Posted April 13, 2013 As uncle Martin used to say in his West Texas drawl......"Son, if it's free, you run from it." No better advise has ever been said to me.

tweakes Posted April 13, 2013 #8 Share Posted April 13, 2013 Don't know about this one in particular, but my friends did a timeshare presentation last year and got a free Carnival cruise out of it... and it was legit. Didn't seem like it either, but they did market it as such (obviously the only reason why they went), and we all went paying only taxes/port fees. awaywego0000 Posted April 13, 2013 #9 Share Posted April 13, 2013 Don't know about this one in particular, but my friends did a timeshare presentation last year and got a free Carnival cruise out of it... and it was legit. Didn't seem like it either, but they did market it as such (obviously the only reason why they went), and we all went paying only taxes/port fees. My friend almost went on this cruise. It was Carnival Celebrity. We checked out CC and read some pretty bad things about the terrible service and the teeny tiny rooms. Some people had to sit through hours of timeshare sales pitch before they could get their vouchers. Then they had to drive to the terminal to receive their vouchers which was quite a ways away. To top it off the BBB gave this company (not Carnival) an "F" as a result of all the complaints. My friend decided not to go.
tweakes Posted April 13, 2013 #10 Share Posted April 13, 2013 We were on the Carnival Splendor. The customer service with booking the cabin was terrible, but for a free cruise it wasn't that bad. The problem was that they had to mail in the voucher with three dates in order of priority they wanted and then the cruise would be booked a little over a month before the sailing ... wasn't a problem for us since we drove. They booked them in an interior, but after that we called in and added me as a 3rd guest and upgraded to a balcony without any problems. Again, I would have complained about the service if it were a regular priced cruise, but it was cheap and worth it... and I'm not even counting the fact that I won $7,500 in the casino :-).
