Shuttle or car rental MCO to Port Canaveral

What's ideal? Reading mixed reviews in car rental shuttles ...

Disney transfers are $$$

Thanks!

Not sure there is a universal "ideal".

Car rentals are good if you are flying in before the day of the cruise because you have flexibility to go to dinner, stores, etc. Shuttles are good if you want to go straight to the ship without dealing with picking up and turning in the rental vehicle.

We usually do a one-way rental before the cruise and a shuttle after the cruise.

I agree with the above, except if our post cruise flight is later than about 2-2:30 we will opt for another one-way car rental so that we can have a fun lunch someplace before checking in for our flights.

All of the major car rental agencies are located in PC or nearby Cocoa Beach and offer free shuttles to/from the port. For two travelling the cost of a rental plus gas is about the same as a shuttle from Cocoa Beach Shuttle or CorTrans; for 3+ the rental is usually a money saver. The flex to go where we want and stay where we want with a rental almost always wins out.

If you are coming in the day of your cruise, or have a flight out earlier than 2:00, opt for the shuttle - you do not have the time to mess around with a rental.

We booked a shuttle round trip which is good and as our flight is at 9:00 pm home we will rent a car at MCO AP - store bags if we can or keep in the trunk - either way and enjoy the day. We figured an hour to the AP and then get the car really doesn't take much more time than taking a shuttle to Cocoa Beach, renting a car and then leaving. Plus, we save drop fee for leaving at MCO Int'l.

Thanks for the help all!!
