I-45 South traffic Houston to Galveston

Recommended Posts

I ask this before but didn't get much response. Am leaving on NOS in 2 weeks from Galveston. Am driving from North Houston area down 45. Am anticipating leaving around 9-9:15 and hope to be in Galveston by 10:30-10:45. How bad is the traffic, especially getting into the terminal to drop off bags around that time? Am parking across street at Galveston Park and Cruise. How hard is it to get to, after I drop off wife and bags?

Gulf coast departures and your roll call could have possibly generated some answers.

However, I assume you will be driving to Galveston on a Sunday morning from the north side of Houston.

You should have no issues through Houston or at the piers.

Enjoy your cruise.

We cruised on the NOS on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend and drove from the Kingwood area. We left around 9:15 and made it to the pier a little before 11 a.m. Not much traffic at the pier at that time or in getting to parking across the street. Our only slow downs were rubber necking delays as people were looking at accidents on I-45 north.

AVOID TRAFFIC ON HARBORSIDE

Yes the traffic to Port and terminal from I45 via Harborside

should be avoided.

DO NOT FOLLOW SIGN TO TERMINALS

ON CAUSEWAY OVER BAY

DO NOT GET OFF I-45 ONTO FEEDER STREET

DO NOT FOLLOW SIGN

Stay on I-45 straight into town,

which street name changes to Broadway

and stay straight to 22th past statue at 25th

and turn left on 22th

and go ten blocks directly to and cross Harborside

which is location of entrance to terminals.

For further reference the front door at Fishermans Wharf Restaurant on port is also at location of entrance at 22nd to terminals.
