What to do in the evening

We are going on the concert carnival cruise in two weeks! We are at port in Cozumel until like 1am. I assume we can be off the ship that whole time. I've never been in a port for more then a few hours so I wanted to clarify that.

We book a swimming with dolphins excursion but will be done by 2:30 so we'll have the afternoon/evening still. Some of the beaches and things I looked at close at 5. I'm looking for suggestions for a great beach or some other entertainment to do in the evening. We will have two kids ages 8 and 10 the so party/bar scene that would typically happen in the evening is out.

Some of the beach clubs stay open late when there is a ship in port for the evening (check Paradise and Mr. Sanchos) - that'll keep you occupied until sundown; then I would taxi into downtown and do some shopping and maybe grab dinner before heading back to the ship. What time is the concert? :confused:

just spent a week in cozumel. nothing happens after 8pm. some restaurants will be open till 10pm. everything including the bars usually close by 11pm. when the ships leave the town closes down and relaxes. but on the other hand i always felt safe in downtown san miguel at night.
