mariella Posted February 6, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 6, 2005 Just sailed Carnival Pride on Jan 2 Was a great cruise. Ship was beautiful. Just one problem, the post cards mailed from the ship never arrived and the stamp was $1.00 per card.

ciship Posted February 6, 2005 #4 Share Posted February 6, 2005 Thanks Raymok, How was the weather on SEA days? Warm enough to lay out by the pool? How about embarkation? Did you do early check in? When did you get there? How was the weather in Long Beach? Did you hear who Greg Kneale's replacement is going to be when he retires in March??? Raymok Posted February 6, 2005 #5 Share Posted February 6, 2005 Unfortunately the weather on first and last sea days you could not sun bath.. The first one was too cold and the last one returning to LB we had 35 MPH winds. We arrived aty the pier late and in 25 minutes we were on board. However on our check in date 1-22 they did a complete crew immigratin check and those passengers that checked in early at QM had to wait up to 3 hours.. Greg diddnt say anthing about his replacement just that he had 7 weeks left
ciship Posted February 6, 2005 #6 Share Posted February 6, 2005 When you say you arrived at the pier LATE, how late is late? When does the QM stop doing early check in?
mariella Posted February 7, 2005 Author #7 Share Posted February 7, 2005 We had 2 cabins. 4140 and 4142. Travelled with my husband, my college age daughter and her roommate from college. The girls had a great time. They were a little worried ahead of time that they would not meet college kids their age, But they did. We liked our rooms alot. Plenty of room. Plenty of closet space. The rooms were partial view, which meant that the lifeboats were right outside our room The shows were above and beyond what I ever expected. I grew up in NY and saw many Broadway musical and the Pride's shows were up to par with Broadway. We had dinner in the dining room every night. Must say we had the best waiter. The first day out it was cool, no sunbathing. But after that the weather was warm. Last day coming back was very breezy. But remember that was in January. Just a note - check your fun card right away for dining time and table number. We did not, and much to our surprise. My husband and I were booked early dinner. My daughter and friend got late dinner. Of course, we needed to change that since we requested early dinner and wanted to dine together. We had to wait on a line for one hour to change. When we finally got to desk to change there was no problem doing so. They were very accomodating. Just a pain to do that.
mariella Posted February 7, 2005 Author #8 Share Posted February 7, 2005 Port visits In Mazatlan we took the city/ tour. We really enjoyed that tour. Visited the oldest church in the city. After the tour we were taken back to the dock. Grabbed a taxi and went into town. Went shopping and had dinner in town. Should have gone back to ship to eat, dinner was not cheap at Senor Frogs. In Cabo we did not take a tour. You can walk to the town from the pier. We had drinks at Cabo Wabo which was fun. Than of course shopping again. In Puerto Vallarto we took the Hotel pool/beach tour. Enjoyed walking along the ocean. But were warned about jelly fish. So did not go in the ocean.
ccNVcpl Posted February 7, 2005 #9 Share Posted February 7, 2005 We leave next Sunday on the Pride for a romantic Valentines week - what other entertainment besides the shows were there? How were the lounges & clubs?
serene56 Posted February 7, 2005 #10 Share Posted February 7, 2005 Our post cards took over 6 weeks to arrive. Guess it was closer to 8 weeks. Did you add USA on the bottom? You would be surprised on how many people forget to add that.
ciship Posted February 7, 2005 #11 Share Posted February 7, 2005 Mariella, When you say "check your fun card right away" for dining, do you mean the Sign and Sail card? I'm not sure what a "fun card" is......help!!
Raymok Posted February 8, 2005 #12 Share Posted February 8, 2005 We arrived at 2:00 PM....
mariella Posted February 8, 2005 Author #13 Share Posted February 8, 2005 Oops, sorry I meant the sign and sail card......... One night we went in one of the main areas to listen to jazz. They even invited passengers to participate if they played any jazz....... There is a Sports lounge, a lounge that did Karoke, and of course the "disco". One night there was a "Pub Crawl" that took you from lounge to lounge drinking. (of course you pay for your own drinks). I did not attend that but heard that it was very popular and fun. mariella Posted February 8, 2005 Author #14 Share Posted February 8, 2005 Forgot this, After the shows we went to Ivory Piano Bar where there is a piano singer. AND dancing. Jazz was in Rapael Lounge. Romantic spot - Sunset Garden - winds around the Taj Mahal Stage. Long winding walkway with cute little table and chairs. You can get a drink or coffee/tea and sit in this little area. The two times we walked there it was very private and quiet. One thing I noted - The Adults only pool area and spa had a few children there. Also, saw one in the spa and no one had him leave.
ronrythm Posted February 8, 2005 #15 Share Posted February 8, 2005 New Years cruise a year ago, I mailed post cards from the ship, they arrived at the end of February and one looked like it had been through a lawn mower. I didn't bother this year (Pride DEC 26 sailing) Figured I could hand deliver them faster! And, yes, I had USA on them. I loved the Pride, wish I was there now!
