The old Countess

Hi Folks,

Old its many years since she wore Cunards colours but where is she now, she was bought by a German cruise line which went bust a few weeks back, so where is the old lady today.

Indeed the former Cunard Countess sailed as Lili Marleen for Holiday Kreuzfahrten which had to file bankruptcy a couple of weeks ago. The ship anchors now in Greece as can be seen at

Yet, Holiday Kreuzfahrten had only chartered the ship. Owner is Majestic International Cruises, a Greek company.

Poor old lady, it may have been many years since I sailed on her, but I can recall more from that cruise than I can from ones only a few years back.

Theformer Cunard Countess / Ocean Countess / Lili Marleen has been renamed M/V Ocean Countess again.

She will be cruising on 3 and 4-day cruises out of Piraeus in the summer of 2007 operated by Monarch Classic Cruises (info@mccruises.gr).

She was quite a ship back then, we cruised twice on her back in the 1970s.:D :D

My parents took their first two cruises aboard Cunard Countess way back in the early 80s and they haven't stopped raving about the wonderful times thay had on this ship.

It's nice to see that she's still around.

You must mean QE2... COUNTESS is neither as great nor as old ;) .

Hi There,

For many of us the Countess was our first real cruise ship, OK the QE2 is not in the same league but the Countess was a holiday cruise ship and she was very good at in, the QE2 is a linner a grad old lady at that, but she is not a holiday ship although she in her older years is becoming one.

She will be sailing on 3- and 4-day Greek Isles cruises from Piraeus for Monarch Classic Cruises.

Word is she is to be renamed BLUE COUNTESS.
