Looking for information on the PRINCESS excursion:

Dolphin & Whale Watching Expedition

Anyone done this? or know what time of transportation?

Catamaran or bigger vessel..... climb in from the water? or load from a dock?

I have been on this excursion with Dr. Poole, and it's one of the best excursions I have ever taken. It wasn't on a catamaran; it was on a boat that you boarded from a dock.

Dr. Poole is extremely knowledgeable and personable. There is always the possibility that you will be able to get in the water, so be prepared for that, though it's not guaranteed.

I'd highly recommend this excursion as a "must do".

He most also offers this on princess.

It was on mine back in 2005/2007.

Last year I took the tour d it was great but we did not get into the water with the whales. Water not clear enough that day.

I would also check out Moorea Boat Tours. The last two years they got much more personal with the whales.

No, it was not through Princess, but it doesn't matter. Princess doesn't run the excursion or provide the boat. It's the same excursion whether through Princess or PG or someone else. It's run by Dr. Poole, not the cruise line.

..and can comment on what type of boat, getting to and from it, etc.??

Meet on shore? shuttle to boat? step onto the boat or climb up stairs into boat??

You can see the type of boat if you look at the pictures in the links provided. Step into the boat. We took the ship's tender to the dock where Dr. Poole's boat was waiting; believe Princess does the same, but you certainly could check with them and find out.
