Just back from Mediterranean Venice Cruise-Brilliance of the Seas

Recommended Posts

Just do it, go on this cruise. We have been ruined forever. How will we ever find one so good? It ticked ever single box! The Shore Excursions were excellent. My favourites were... Pisa and Florence, The one that included the Village of St Paul (amazing!) The Evening Gondola Ride in Venice (any of the ones during the day would have been equally fantastic, so I won't list the one we did, The Blue Cave excursion in Kotor. (Defies words it was so beautiful.) Rome- I think any tour would have been equal. Pompeii was amazing we had such a good tour in a small group. The Amalfi Coast - again any of them. Ravenna was the only disappointment- forget the beach as the water was murky and forget the shopping tour-- My 19 Yr old reported it was rubbish and only bought a T-Shirt after saving for this. (I believe those who went to San Marino enjoyed it.) This is just a cruise you must consider. The ship was great, the crew were wonderful, the food amazing and well...... JUST PERFECT :hearteyes:

I've done 3 of these and have a similar upcoming one on Aug. 29th. Can you elaborate on the condition of the Brilliance, as there was a thread that basically said that it was old and needs for refurbish. See below by "CrazyJG"

If you have been on many cruises this ship/cruise has been a let down. If you haven't been cruising much the ship is fine.

The food has been ok. Princess and Celebrity are better. The service in the dining room have been very slow. 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours for dinner.

The ship needs to be refurbished. There are buttons missing in the elevator, the carpet is old. The cruise staff has been nice, but mostly unhelpful. Its known the Mediterranean ships aren't the best and it shows. The shows have been pretty good, yet at different times each night, but the night in Athens there isn't a show which is weird.

The drink packages are insanely high priced. The Windjammer closes at 9:30 and their midnight food is pretty bad. Room service charged $7.95 at any hour of the day. I was almost charged 2.5% to use my card in the casino.

Overall the ship feels old, the service has not been very good and I feel nickel and dimed every day. I admit I've been on 10+ cruises so I have a lot to compare to. If you are new to cruising this might seem like status quo, but I've been disappointed.

The ports however have been amazing as its my first time here.

Again I thought ship was really in great shape, all my recent cruises were on newer larger ship, but Brilliance was fine, many of the complaints were RCCL policy like fee for casino if you use a credit card, which I believe all ships have this now, I also not totally a RCCL fan, I have been on about as many cruise lines as the complainer has been on cruises. Our cruise was Barcelona 12 day round trip
