Progreso light house? and other first cruise activities

Our first cruise ... finally... jan 2016.

By my reading I think ive seen there is a lighthouse... barely see any mention. Is there one? Easy to get to? Can climb it?

Double decker bus up to date cost?

Any other suggestions when doing these 2 items.thanks

We did the double decker bus tour last year. I believe it was $3.00 each.

The lighthouse is across the street from where the shuttle bus from the ship lets you off. The lighthouse is right in the middle of the downtown area about 200 meters from the edge of the ocean. The Spanish word for lighthouse is El Faro. I understand that the lighthouse was built at the edge of water. However, the city of Progreso has built out so that the lighthouse is not on the Gulf anymore. I do not believe that you can walk to the top of the lighthouse. Lots of fun things to do in Progreso beyond the bus ride. Walk to the beach, hang out for while, get a massage, swim, eat and drink.

We've seen the lighthouse but never heard of it being open for visitors. The double decker bus is fun.
