Belize City / Caye Caulker with Young Kids

We have cruised all over the caribbean and alaska with our children.

The one place we have ever felt uncomfortable is Belize City. Last time, we went to the monkey sanctuary and to the zoo. The taxi we caught..well, it didn't have any door handles, the locks were broken off, and my wife was pretty sure that our 18 month old and us were going to be kidnapped and taken to Guatamala.

Never felt that uneasy in any other port.

We will be back in February of 2016 with a 2 year old and special needs 4 year old. They are troopers and travel well.

I think we would really like to go to Caye Caulker this time.

Our children won't snorkel, but enjoy swimming. My wife and I would take turn snorkeling.

I am looking for a safe and reliable way to get there. I have read of all the problems with the ferries, and just want to cover myself.

Has Coral Breeze gotten their act together? Is there another company that provides round trip transportation as well as the tour?

I appreciate any help!

I noticed that coral breeze on their snorkel trip to Caye Caulker has listed you can be an "observer" and they drop you off at the island before they go snorkel and pick you up on the return. It is also a lower price than if you snorkel.Tthis would take the issue of the ferry off the board.

We booked the CoraBreeze Island Escape for $42 pp. Worth the money I think.
