Dublin: Hotels and tours

We will be spending a few days pre-cruise in Dublin and I am looking for recommendations for nice hotels in the area near attractions and pubs. Any recommendation for things to do are also appreciated.

We did a self drive in Ireland a couple years ago and stayed in Dublin before heading out. Using hotel points we stayed at the Conrad Hilton and I felt it wasn't centrally located, although very nice BUT we were able to walk across St Stephen's Green and catch the HoHo bus. I highly recommend doing that. You can get a pass for two days . It will take you to or near Guinness, Jamieson , Kilmaihan goel , Trinity College, Temple Bar, etc for a very reasonable price. We stayed at Wynn's Hotel, just off the main areas...half block walk to the HOHO bus, and walking distance to many pubs. The hotel was nice, clean, friendly, nice breakfast.

We stayed at Wynns this past October. Older hotel but very nice. We tried to stay again ten days later but it was fully booked.

Very good location. Airport bus stops around the corner.
