Shuttle bus from/to Brooklyn Cruise Terminal?

If you're reasonably fit it should be entirely possible to do this with transit. Google maps suggests about 45-50 minutes each way. From the terminal follow the main drive until it hooks to the left. You should see a small gate there leading to a side street. Follow the side street (Pioneer) for a couple of blocks until you come to Van Brunt street. Cross Van Brunt, cross Pioneer Street and walk a few more feet until you come to a bus stop sign. The B61 bus comes by about every 15 minutes, and it is about a 15 minute ride to the end of the line in Brooklyn

When you get to the end of the line walk north on the street where the bus leaves you, about 2 blocks to the Jay Street Metro Tech subway which will take you into Manhattan:

I'd suggest taking a digital camera and taking some photos of the area around the bus and subway stops to help you find your way back.

Yes, I'd agree with this. Without heavy baggage, New York is just a 'port-of-call' for you and this will get you into Manhattan the soonest (at that time of the morning) and it will be inexpensive (take some small $US money for the bus & subway!). You want the 61 bus that's heading NE, on the side of the road furthest from the ship, so you're headed the right direction. Been there, done that. You'll be in Manhattan long before virtually anyone else from the ship.

For some reason the cost of the Penn Station transfer seems to be higher than the airport transfers..

Thank you for your help everybody. We're travelling West from Penn on disembarking so it just makes sense to do the transfer even if it's a bit pricey. We'll look for it on our CP as our sail-date gets closer.
