Floating Market/No tours planned

Hello all. We were in Curacao about 25 years ago and are very much looking forward to going again in January. Our port times are 1 pm - 10 pm. Probably not interested in beach, but would rather walk around town and sample local foods.

Can anyone tell me how close the floating market is to the pontoon bridge? Do all ships dock at the outer wall and not in the channel? Last time our ship sailed into the channel and docked right near the tall overpass bridge.

Looking for ideas for wandering around, eating local foods and drinking local drinks. Is the floating market there every day? I believe we are in Curacao on a Wed. We would very much like to see it.

Any other suggestions for interesting (non-museum/history/tour people) local fun for the day!

My wife and I will be in Curacao in January as well... we are wondering about tge floating market as well.

The floating market is to the left after you cross the "pontoon bridge" otherwise known as the Queen Emma Bridge.

About a block away is Plasa Bieu also known as the old market. Plasa Bieu originally started out as a market area where the women from town would sell food and wares. During lunch time they had small grills that they would cook their own food on for their lunch to eat and soon locals and visitors started requesting that they make this food for them as well and the market eventually transformed into the food stalls / food court that it is today.

Thank you! Just what I was looking for. We will hit both if possible, but our ship doesn't get in until 1 pm....I suppose that will be a problem with timing.
