Going back in December......snorkeling off the beach?

first preference is nice beach

Second preference is snorkeling from the beach without going in a giant ship group

Have snorkel many islands but trying to take it easy and not join a tour on a boat. Is this even possible? We would like to not have to be on a time schedule except when time to get ahead of those running back to the ship drunk

Thanks!

Good snorkeling from the shore at the Money Bar, plus good facilities, food, drinks & service. No real beach there (you enter the water via steps) which keeps the water clear. Taxi from the piers will be about $11 each way.

If you want a sandy beach I would snorkel at MB for 1-2 hours and then taxi to Paradise Beach -- $3 admission/chair rental, great facilities and HUGE pool.

I've read, but not been there, that Playa Palancar offers a nice beach plus good snorkeling - about a $25 cab ride each way.
