Desdichado62 Posted July 28, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 28, 2014 hi, stopping in gothenberg for few hours on sunday 10th august and wonder what time the padden boats start? will the fish market be open? what time the shops in haga open and is there a catholic church in or near the centre?. our ship sails at 2pm so time very limited. many thanx First Paddan tour starts at 10.30 from Kungsportsplatsen, it will take 50 minutes. Be there early since it can be quite long queues. https://www.google.se/maps/@57.703723,11.969805,3a,75y,160.76h,93.79t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1ssfD6AsKPSG92TC3YSeN4wQ!2e0!6m1!1e1 http://www.stromma.se/sv/Goteborg/Sightseeing/Batsightseeing/Rundtur-Paddan/#tab6 Haga area stores usually opens at 10 or 11 am, some stores does not open until midday (12.00) and some cafés opens earlier. Bräutigams chocolate shop opens at 11.00 am. Most stores in Haga are listed at: http://www.hagashopping.se/verksamheter/ but far from all of them specifies their openings hours. There is a Catholic church at Parkagatan 14/16, which is quite central. and about 600m from where the Paddan boat docks. https://www.google.se/maps/place/Parkgatan+14,+411+38+G%C3%B6teborg/@57.7041482,11.9777703,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x464ff37af7074595:0x78d32bf2666eb202 Transport options depends in which order you want to do it but I would definiately start with the paddan boat since I would guess that the queues later in the day will longer then in the morning. Then it depends on if you want to go to Haga first then use tram #3 towards Marklandsgatan. Get off at Hagakyrkan stop. If you want to do the catholic church first it is just a short walk from where the boats docks. https://www.google.se/maps/dir/57.7037878,11.9699786/57.7043024,11.9783007/@57.7030592,11.9717401,17z/data=!4m4!4m3!1m0!1m0!3e2 For more info about trams, tickets, connections and etc, visit: http://www.vasttrafik.se/#!/en/ Ticket sales points here: http://www.vasttrafik.se/#!/en/tickets-and-prices/1/6/ select Göteborg from the drop down list. Desdichado62 Posted July 28, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 28, 2014 Desidichado62, is it worth buying boat tickets in advance on the website? I don't know. I was in Gothenburg 5 years ago in late June (Midsummer Sunday and two days forward) and we didn't buy ticket in advance. We went with the Paddan boats first thing in the morning but I don't remember if there was a long queue or not. So I guess if you know that you will be able to go on a certain departure I would guess that it is a good thing to buy a ticket in advance. donegal rose Posted July 28, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted July 28, 2014 thanx very much for all your great advice. think i'l go to the church first and prebook the padden boat tour around 10.45 to save queuing and if time allows, run around a bit of the haga area. pity time so limited, but a short stay is better than none !! thanx again
Ashland Posted July 29, 2014 #6 Share Posted July 29, 2014 Don't expect much to be open before 11:00-noon. Also consider using your ships offered shuttlebus into the town center...as they will dock in a very industrial dock far removed from town which is approx. 30-45 min ride. seastar2 Posted February 4, 2018 #7 Share Posted February 4, 2018 hoping someone cruising this tread might have some updated info...We had a port change on our Breakaway sailing for Oct, 2018... There seems to be limited private tours for this port other them "tours by locals" and we have no idea what if this is a port doable on our own..We do know the ship is at least 20 minutes from the "center of Town".. We are interested in the Haga area but don't know what we "should" see.. Any suggestions from locals or folks that have been there?? We have about 7 hours.. Thanks for any input!!!

Göteborg and the west coast are very prone to rainy weather, especially this time of the year, Indoor activities could be Universeum, the city museum, Maritiman http://www.goteborg.com/en/ http://www.goteborg.com/en/museum/?page=2&tags=&startdate=&enddate=&datetype=&view=listing https://www.universeum.se/en/ http://www.goteborg.com/en/maritiman/ http://www.goteborg.com/en/museum-of-gothenburg/ Also, I am not sure about if Euros are accepted. It might be in some places but I don't know. Credit cards and etc are accepted everywhere though.
