Docking at Crown Bay--where is the closest decent snorkeling?

Just realized our ship will dock at Crown Bay instead of Havensight :( We would like to snorkel but don't want to spend too much time/money getting there.

You can go over to Water Island, but the best snorkeling will be on the eastern end of the island.

Yes as zqvol said the East End beaches are still your best choices. The fare is $9 - 10pp each way (according to recent posts, I thought it was $11) and about a 25 - 30 min ride but that's not a terrible cost, especially for the experience at Sapphire, for example.

We haven't snorkeled off WI but you'll probably spend as much time getting there with the ferry schedule as you will to the East End of STT.

You may want to post that question on the STT forum on tripadvisor as someone living there may know of a little-known snorkel spot closer to Crown.

The difference in taxi fare to a closer beach and an East End beach may only be between $6 to $4 per person each way. If you really want to snorkel, stick with those recommended beaches.
