Amsterdam ship to airport

Is there time to make a 10:20 flight if Century docks at 5 AM? If we end up staying over that night what can we do with our luggage and 2 teens until a room is available?

It might work, but much will depend what time you can get off the ship (customsclearing etc.) and also during weekdays traffic can be a problem.

Since most airlines to the USA want their passengers to be there at least 2 but often even 3 hours before departure, it doesnot give you much time.

If you can print your boardingcards on the ship, it gives you a little more time.

If you stay overnight, you will depend on the cooperation of the hotel (and the guests checking out..) at what time you can check-in. Often there is a special place/storage where you can leave your luggage even when the room isnot ready yet. That way you can visit the city already in the morning.

We ended our cruise in Amsterdam but did stay overnight so we could get in another European city under our belt. So if you haven't been to Amsterdam it is worth a visit for at least a day. I have so wanted to vist there but more on a long trip where I could take in the rest of the Netherlands and Belgium. But since we were there, might as well see the city. There is hotel Movenpick connected to the cruise ship port. I had made a reservation there in advance. It was reasonable but not cheap. It is a very nice upscale hotel. Our ship docked at 7am and we disembarked at around 9AM. We walked over to the hotel and our room was ready!! Here's a kicker, we got our room, took a bathroom break and got out the map and when leaving the hotel still saw a long line of our fellow passengers waiting for taxis. It is about a 15 minute walk to the central train station which then puts you in town within walking distance to many of the major sights. The bus is easy to take around town, get a pass at the terminal near the train station (long lines though). You can also get an all day pass on certain buses but you have to have change (like 6 euros each pass). We went to the Van Gogh museum, Anne Frank house and took a canal cruise tour as well. Great city.
