Getting to Hamburg airport by 10:50a?

Hello: I am trying to join my family May 5 for a Splendida cruise departing from Hamburg, but the only flights I can find on return depart at 10:50a. I guessed that was too early to disembark with bags and three children and make it to the airport in time, but wanted to consult the experts. Could we make it?

Probably not.

You would need to be at the airport at least 90 minutes before to have a chance of dropping off your bags, getting through security and to the gate before boarding closes. That is 9:20 absolute latest.

Even if you choose to take your own luggage off the ship, you need a minimum 30 minutes to walk through the terminal, get a taxi (under contention from a thousand other cruise passengers) and get to the airport in free-flowing traffic.

Add an hour breathing room and that would mean you would need to be guaranteed to be able to be off the ship by 07:50. Can you do that?

I see the published arrival time is 08:00, so don't even think about it. Have a night in Hamburg and retrace the early days of the Beatles!

Yes I think Skipper Tim gave you a good advise. We have booked a train ticket from Hamburg at 10.55, but the train station is near to the port and we do not need to arrive 90 minutes in advance. We do think we will make it.
