Stateroom location

Recommended Posts

We have cruised Canada/New England in the past; however, we don't remember our stateroom location.

DH is planning a last minute cruise and only extreme aft or extreme forward inside cabins are available.

This would be our 10th cruise and rarely have motion sickness, always prepared.

What are your opinions on these staterooms for a Canadian cruise from NYC?

Thank you.

The biggest issue I have is that I find inside staterooms too claustrophobic for my tastes and I would never be able to be in a room with no windows for that long.

But as far as position on the ship, I find forward preferable to aft, though I will say forward is a bit "bumpier" as far as the ride goes. I've felt the waves far more in the forward cabins than the aft ones. I've never been bothered by engine noise/vibration, but others have complained about that in aft cabins.

All things considered, forward would be my choice, but I'd actually save the money this year and book a cruise for next year so I could get my preferred low, forward, outside room.

We just got back from the Quebec-to-Boston cruise on HAL and our cabin was in the extreme forward of the ship. I'm very susceptible to motion sickness, but I felt absolutely no motion in this cabin. In fact, I had the best sleep on this cruise that I've had in ages.
