gazingm42 Posted October 3, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 3, 2006 The DW is big scrapbook queen and loves to quilter. She would like to find local island fabrics and scrapbook stores for the Island. Anyone know of any?
m steve Posted October 3, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 3, 2006 There are several in Marigot. One on the main street between the two harbours and another as you leave Marigot going towards P'burg. Don't know about scrap books.
kal Posted October 3, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 3, 2006 One of the finest fabric stores we have ever seen is on the western edge of Marigot in the Bellevue District. It's called Danielle B Fusion. A second shop close by is Tissus & Harmony. Both have drop-dead beautiful high-end French fabrics. Every year, these are shops that we never miss. We have also visited three other shops in Marigot that have caribbean type yardage. One is just a short walk from the Marigot open-air market. gazingm42 Posted October 3, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted October 3, 2006 KAL, Do you recall if the prices were good?
kal Posted October 3, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 3, 2006 It all depends on what one considers "good". In short, for the shops in Bellevue, the prices are high but the quality is superb. They only sell French goods so when you consider you just can't get anything like it in the US, it's cheaper than taking a trip to Paris. For the shops that sell Caribbean type yardage and notions, the prices are very inexpensive. Again, you can't get that type of goods at home either. gazingm42 Posted October 4, 2006 Author #6 Share Posted October 4, 2006 Thanks Kal, We looking forward to find these shops. Have you been to San Juan, PR? Have you seen shops there?
kal Posted October 4, 2006 #7 Share Posted October 4, 2006 I don't remember seeing those types of shops in San Juan. In any case, PR is totally different from the Caribbean Islands. It's much more like the US than the tropics.
