Palma de Mallorca/Soller on our own

We will be in Palma on Nov. 8 from 10:30 am until 10:00 pm on the Navigator of the Seas. We want to do train to Soller and then tram to port of Soller, then take the 210 bus thru Valdemossa to the port. Is this doable on our own without a private tour? Any suggestions will be appreciated. BTW we have already been to Palma and did the tour of the city including Cathedral and castle, pearl factory, and Drach caves.

Yo can do it on your own, it's very easy. Just take local bus #1 from Palma port to Plaza España (Palma city centre). Then take the Soller train and then the tram to the port.

Once in Port de Sóller, the bus number 210 stops next to the church, ask for directions. If you want to visit Valldemossa as well the schedule might be a bit tight though, since buses are not so very frequent and you sholud be taking the bus 210 twice. If you want to enjoy the views sit on the right side both on the train and the 210 bus.

Take into account that early november is already low season, and Sóller and Port de Sóller are nice enough if you want to skip Valldemossa and play it safe. And also, from Port de Sóller back to Palma there's the express bus 211 that goes trough the tunnel, it's fatser and more frequent:

Trying to decide on going to Caves of Drach on 9/13. Will be in port from 8-8pm. Am considering going to Soller or caves. How do caves compare w/ Luray Caverns or any of the following; Harrison's caves, Le Grotto Caves or Camuy Caverns?

I am booked on the Allure of the Seas next June. It has an eight hour stop (0800-1600) at Palma; would that be sufficient time to do the Soller train and tram? I would dearly love to do both but would be concerned about the time factor.

Pn1,

Yes! It's enough time. Check out this thread for some logistics: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=37956672#post37956672. Also Elmartellama has some excellent posts here for Mallorca, be sure to read them.

I've been to Soller & Porto Soller twice. The first time we did the old train, tram & the express bus back. The 2nd time, took the express bus both ways & did the boat trip to Sa Colabra (a highlight!). If they have early boats you may be able to do that, but sometimes getting a schedule in advance can be difficult.

Enjoy this beautiful island!
