Smallfamily Posted March 12, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 12, 2017 Any ideas how to do this? Haven't been able to find a tour operator with availability ? My husband loves huge trees so this would be a bucket list experience for him. In port from 7-5 (at least plan to be - you all know how that goes lol) Thx everyone :) Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Urban trekker Posted March 12, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 12, 2017 I don't have any easy answer for you other than renting a car for the day. If you do decide to rent a car you could extend your tour by driving a short distance further and go down to Port Alberni - a logging and mill town with lots of history etc. On the way to Cathedral Grove you will pass the entrance to Little Qualicum Falls Park - one of two waterfalls in the area - the other is Englishmen River but it is more off the beaten path. http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/bcparks/explore/parkpgs/little_qualicum_falls/ On your return from the Grove - stop in the seaside town of Parksville and visit Rathtrevor Park - one of the best on the east side of the Island. http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/bcparks/explore/parkpgs/rathtrevor/ If you don't want to rent a car the only other two options that I can think of are: 1. Contact a taxi firm and see if they will quote you a price for a private tour. 2. I know there is a bus service from Nanaimo to Port Alberni and Tofino - whether it is possible for them to drop you off at the Grove and pick you up later I don't know. Here's a link to there web site - don't see any specific stop for the Grove but contact them. http://www.tofinobus.com/schedule Hope this helps some. Cheers!
