1 hour out of NOLA?

We're driving down on I-59 and want to stop about an hour outside NOLA the night before. Anyone familiar with that area and know where to stop? What town would be our best bet?

Slidell should work. It is about 45 minutes away from New Orleans, on I-10. There's nothing very exciting about Slidell, but there are plenty of motels and reataurants (mostly chains) convenient to I-10.
