palermo22 Posted October 23, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 23, 2016 We will be in Barcelona Easter weekend (Sat/Sun - 4/15/17 to 4/16/17) - would most of the activities be shut down on Easter Sunday - in particular: Montserrat Monastery?
EnricM Posted October 23, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 23, 2016 (edited) No, they won't... here in Barcelona nor in the rest of Catalonia that is. Saturday is a regular day for all businesses (shops, restaurants, museums, etc), and on Sunday shops are closed -as in any other Sunday. Most (not all) museums and other attractions remain open in Easter. Having said that, on that weekend, small-owned businesses might close down for a long holiday. pris993 Posted October 25, 2016 #3 Share Posted October 25, 2016 We arrived in Barcelona on Easter Sunday a year or so ago. We hung out at our hotel after arriving on Sunday... went out on Monday, which is still part of the holiday in Barcelona... we were surprised at how crowded the city... lots of locals as well as tourists... cruisinsandiego Posted December 25, 2016 #5 Share Posted December 25, 2016 We disembarked in Barcelona on Easter last year and we booked an outstanding tour through Barcelona Day Tours to the Cava Vineyard and Montserrat Monastery before heading to the airport for a late flight. Both stops were outstanding and although the monastery was understandably busy, it was a special treat to be there to hear the angelic boys choir. Highly recommend.
