Kids club times/lunch

On a typical sea day, what time is the kid's club open? I'm looking at the Fantasy, if that makes a difference.

My kids have only sailed on Carnival. Their club doesn't open until 10:00a and you need to come back a couple of hours later to feed them lunch. Then they close to get ready for dinner at 3:30p.

It was just a lot of walking back and forth and back and forth. Woulda been nice to have more than a couple of hours to relax. I was wondering how Disney's club handles the sea days.

Do they feed the kids lunch or do parents need to come pick them up?

Thanks. :)

The Oceaneer's Club and Oceaneer's Lab are typically open from 9 am to midnight except on Castaway day. Depending on the ports, etc. they are sometimes open till 1 am. On Castaway day, they open on the island so it is a little later to allow them to move the programming to the island and there is an hour of "no programming" while they move back to the ship at the end of the day.

Lunch and dinner are offered to the kids in the programming but they are not required to eat. SO if you want them to eat there, tell the CM who will then encourage them to sit down and eat. Otherwise you'll get a call later that they need to be picked up because they are hungry!

What do you mean by "how they handle the sea days?" It is the same as the port days. You can sign them in and out whenever you choose. You can feed them with you or you can have them eat in the programming. You can actually have free childcare 15 hours a day if your kid is cooperative. You are supposed to carry your wave phone with you and if your child wants you or needs you, the staff will message you.

You answered my question. Thanks. :) On Carnival the port days and sea days are different for the kids program. They won't feed them lunch on sea days. Parents need to pick them up and bring them to eat.

It just seems like we spent every sea day going back and forth picking up the kids and dropping them off. Would be so nice to be able to relax and let the kids spend some time at the kids program instead of just in one or two hour intervals.

Lunch in the DCL clubs is pretty limited though - usually it's cheese sandwiches with fruit and/or veggies.

Also, usually on seaday mornings, either the club or the lab will have a period of "open house" which means you'll need to accompany the kids to have them use that space or attend any activities that are scheduled in that space. The other space will be secure programming but if your kids prefer one space over another, it is something you'll need to consider. (i.e. when the club is in "open house" mode, the lab will be secured; when the lab is in "open house" mode, the club will be secured.)

You may want to check out some recent navigators to see the activities that are offered, and the open house times.

To elaborate a bit on the above...there is always a space available for "secure" (signed in, no parent needed or allowed) programming for ages 3-12. Most of the time that space includes both the Club and the Lab, but each location has 60-90 minutes of "open house" each day. During open house time, all kids who are signed in are moved to the area that does not have open house, so they remain secure, signed in, and in the care of the CMs. You do not have to do anything if your kid is already in programming and it is open house time.

OK--open house is a time when children of all ages can play/participate/see a space where they are not otherwise allowed. During this time, children are not signed into that space and are NOT under the supervision of a CM. All children must be accompanied by a parent. This is a time when they can show siblings or parents what they have been doing and when people of an age that would not otherwise allow them to use this space can do so. Remember that this does not interfere with your childcare, as your signed in child will be moved to the other half of the facility and still be secure and supervised.

As the above poster stated, some kids like the Lab side or the Club side better--that is between you and your child, whether they want to be picked up if they have to leave their preferred spot or whether they want to be signed out and have you take them to the open house hours, or whether you dictate to them what will happen.

As above, the meals in the kid area are rather sup-optimal. They do meet basic nutritional requirements if the kid eats all that is served, but they really meet the "ease for the staff" requirements. But if you want your kid in programming so you can have more consecutive hours to relax, it is food. They used to take the kids to the buffet where they were admitted 30 minutes before it opened to guests...but that is no longer acceptable under the "security" issues. They must stay in the programming space at this age.

Edge and Vibe kids have activities around the ship...but they also can sign themselves in and out.
