Best months for River Cruise

What months tend to be the better months for river cruising? This will be first river cruise. Have been to UK and France in the Fall enjoying nice weather.

We have gone in April once, November 3x and December 3x. We prefer fall and winter for fewer crowds and in manyz cases, fewer boats on the river.

December is wonderful for the Christmas markets.

We would not choose summer months at all due to crowds and also pricing.

Have cruised all four seasons and loved them all. Pick the climate you enjoy and the itinerary you are interested in and go for it. One item to consider is that some cruises sell out a year plus in advance so book early especially if you want certain rooms.

I have cruised Europe in all months except February. I prefer June and July. The weather is great, I love the crowds, and the sun does not go down until after 9 PM allowing for strolls after dinner.

We did the Danube with Viking in October, Nuremberg to the Black Sea with time in Prague beforehand. Weather was great and the crowds had thinned in the major cities.

It depends on the country.

Russia, July or August

China, September

France, Rhone River, May was a great month.
