Ways to celebrate a b-day on board

My son will be turning 5 on our cruise. The day of his b-day we are in Cozumel and are going to Playa Mia. I was thinking of having the room decorated by NCL while we are gone. He will get a cake with dinner.

I was thinking of getting him a t-shirt that says "Today is my 5th birthday" or "High 5 - I am 5".

Ideas on how else we can make his day special?

The cabin decorations are always fun as is the cake. Not sure what NCL does, but most cruise lines will put a sign on the door also.

My girls had their 7th birthday on a port day at the beach. We arranged with a restaurant on the beach ahead of time to have a little surprise birthday lunch. (you can go to the ports of call board here to ask for suggestions for a good place to go) We also wrote "Happy Birthday" with their names in the sand and we brought extra sand toys as "favors" for the other kids at the beach to kind of make it a big play-date (extra buckets didn't take up extra room since they all fit inside each other).
