Pre-cruise in Auckland

I will be in Auckland for a couple of days prior to embarkation 6 January for 2week Auckland-Sydney cruise. Any suggestions for one or two day trips out of Auckland that would not involve driving? Either a ferry trip to a nearby island or group road tour day trip (not so int'd in wine tasting) would be fine. Thanks for any recos.

If you do a search for day tours from auckland you will get some ideas. I suggest you consider a trip to the Bay of Islands. It's gorgeous up there.
