Australian family Posted April 12, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2012 Just looking at a cruise on the Oosterdam and the prices for a VD or VC verandah category are very similar. Even a VB isn't much more. Does anyone have any advice?
jtl513 Posted April 12, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 12, 2012 The main difference is the size of the balconies. The VD's have 7.5 deep balconies, with the outer 1.5 ft exposed to view, while the VC (and side VB/VA) have 6 ft deep ones. If you don't mind that, I'd say the VD are better. In the pic below the people at the railing are on VD balconies. Note that the divider next to the man in the gray shirt is open. The VD balconies are not as wide as they appear to be for those two people. Some of the VD are above areas that could be sources of noise - the Screening Room and the galley - while the VC, VB, and half of the VA are sandwiched between other cabin decks. The view from some of the VD (4053, 4054, 4123, 4124) is slightly blocked by lifeboats. If 4164 and 4166 aren't taken yet, those have 18 ft wide balconies, but 4166 has only a shower - no tub. Petronillus Posted April 12, 2012 #3 Share Posted April 12, 2012 VD is now known as STD. ;)
localady Posted April 12, 2012 #4 Share Posted April 12, 2012 I would choose a VD cabin before a VC, VB and VA anytime. I prefer the location near the water as well as the larger balcony any day and the lower price doesn't hurt either. :D
