That's the best way to get there. There is a bus that stops along the malecon (same $3pp) but you'll need a taxi back ($2pp). Otherwise it's a long walk.

 

And what great is that if you're put off by service, prices or facilities all you have to do is walk down (or up a short ways) to another beach club spot. Try Black Pearl, Tropicante, Pez Quadro or El Faro as alternatives. Same small stretch of beach.
