Will Players Club Call Land Casino Hosts for proof of big gambler?

I am booked on a Players Club free Carnival cruise. My dear friend and travelling buddy is a very big gambler. She always gets the offers from NCL for free cruises with the free drink card included. This friend gambles about $2000 a day. She gets free airfare to Vegas, Lake Tahoe, and as many nites as she wants, plus hundreds of free casino money. Same with Atlantic City. She was on only one Carnival cruise, years ago. Would the Players Club consider calling her Casino host, say, at Harrahs casinos, to check on her level of play?

She is hesitant to go on Carnival again, and I want her to come with my husband and myself, along with her hubby to our cruise coming up.

Has anyone ever had this done for them before?

Thank you

The answer would be a definite no. Carnival doesn't even care about the high rollers on their cruises let alone land based casinos. I strongly suggest she stick to Norwegian if she's a big gambler or she will be VERY disappointed.

Generally speaking, unless there is some kind of business link between the cruise line and a land based casino chain, the answer is that her land based casino play will make no difference. There is no business relationship between Carnival and Harrah's/Ceasar's.

This is one reason why we're NCL cruisers: NCL and Harrah's/Ceasar's are owned by the same holding company, and there is a business relationship between NCL's CAS and Total Rewards. On NCL, when you take your first cruise through CAS, they will consider your Harrah's play and rating, although there is no direct relationship between the two points systems (wish there was!).

But the bottom line is that your gambling friend will be judged based on her play on the ship. If she cruises Carnival with you, and plays big, she should expect decent rewards and comps, right? Unfortunately, no...Carnival seems to be one of the worst at rewarding their gamblers on board.

My suggestion would be to have your gambling friend book you all a cruise on NCL!!

You may want to try a 3rd party casino host who organizes junkets. I have several who say they can get me free on any cruise, I havn't done that yet since I do not gamble that big and don't want to feel obligated to spend big to help my host.

Thank you for your replies. Sad that Carnival doesn't care about high rollers.

Funny how some people say Carnival doesn't care yet there are so many posts on these boards of people getting free casino cruises. Those people even show up to say Carnival doesn't care even in threads where someone just said they received a free Carnival cruise. If they are so happy to have left Carnival behind, makes you wonder why they keep trolling the Carnival boards and message threads. Why aren't they happy to spread their free NCL/RCL/WhateverOtherCruiseLine stories on the appropriate board for their newfound favorite cruise line?

Carnival has always done fine by me. I've received my fair share of cash, and discounted and free casino cruises from them. Only the very first 2 of my 8 Carnival cruises weren't through a casino promo. I feel Carnival cares plenty for their gamblers.

To the OP, as stated, no Carnival probably will not call a casino they have no promo business relationship with.

Personally, I started with Carnival, got into the casino system (Premier Cruises, occasional comped one), but then gave NCL a shot based on what I was reading here. They treat me well also, usually a standing "comp" on their system whenever I want to use it. For me it comes down to a couple of items: 1. The VP machines on the NCL ships are superior (7/5 DDBL vs 6/5 DDBL, about 8% better on theo payback 2. Better selection of VP machines on NCL (At the $.25 level, CCL only has single line 10 coin, NCL has Superstar machines with multiple games). That being said, I like to cruise 1-3 times a year depending on vacation time, so I look for the best/cheapest option depending on if I am taking my whole family etc each time. I think we are in a bit of a sweet spot from the casino side as NCL has been the standard of "how" to do it, but Carnival is trying to move into that game to be competitive.....better for us as players/cruisers. :) Don't know how long it will last, but hopefully for a while!

I am "riding that wave" also! In April I will be taking my 5th free Carnival casino cruise, and I have another offer out there that I am considering.

I have read about NCL, but I play mainly tables and ASSUME the payouts are the same (3-card poker, caribbean stud, let-it-ride), but I honestly don't know.

If I have to purchase a cruise, I will definitely consider Norwegian and see how they compare for me.

I am in RCCL player club, but find them stingy...
