jensambo Posted October 13, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 13, 2007 I will be going on my first solo cruise in September. I am hearing impaired and won't be able to hear the anouncements or someone knocking on the door. Has anyone had any problems doing this? It will be on the Grandeur of the Seas. I am trying to book a room but I can't seem to find any hearing impaired rooms.
lvtotrvl1 Posted October 13, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 13, 2007 Call special services at RCCL and let them know...they will take great care of you. When you board I would talk to the front desk to be sure they have it noted in your record for you.
etoile Posted October 13, 2007 #3 Share Posted October 13, 2007 As long as the staff knows you are there, it should be no problem. They should be able to provide you with an ADA kit that will contain a door knock signaler. Also, if you are a signer, you can request them to provide you with an interpreter. They are usually familiar with the needs of deaf and hard of hearing people because many older folks who cruise have hearing loss.
