The Texas Tall ship Elissa is open to the public and next door to Fisherman's Wharf.

The Bishop's Palace is open at 14th and Broadway for tours.

The may be something playig at the Grand Opera House. What day to you arrive?

My DH and I will be staying at Harbor House the day before our cruise. We arrive in Houston at 8:00 AM. Any ideas on what to do and where to eat? THANKS!!!!!

There is a Fuddrucker's within shouting distance of the Harbor House. It"s the only one in the nation with a bar upstairs and they serve ice-cold shiner bock on tap!! There is also a Joe's Crabshack right next door to the HH. At least there was before the hurricane. Also, if you're staying at the HH, ask for the corner room on the 2nd floor looking towards the pier. You can watch the ship come in past the front window, then watch it spin around in the channel and pull into the pier. It's a cool thing to do at 5am.(when you can't sleep if you tried anyway!). Have fun!!! Bill&Ann.

Neither of those places is open since Ike, just FYI.

Check out Mosquito Cafe on 14th and Winnie (less than a mile from HH). It's a must-eat for Galveston trips. Someone else suggested Sky Bar for sushi--great choice. For good sandwiches, try Eat Cetera on 25th street (not too far from HH). For a healthy lunch or some of the best coffee on the island, try Lunchbox Cafe on 23rd street (near HH). It really depends on when you're coming. There are other great places around town to eat, but some of them are yet to open up. There's a great bar with the best pizza in the world, but it's not quite open yet--Murphy's on 22nd street downtown (near HH).
