Recommendations for restaurants in Castries

We will be in Castries, St. Lucia in January (end of next week). We have been all over the island various times and are thinking to go out for a nice lunch and do wifi this time. Any recommendations for restaurants in Castries that are clean and have good food? We like Indian food, Asian food, and local seafood/fish or jerk chicken. We should be docked right in downtown near Chef Robby's as the other pier is under construction. We are hoping to walk to the restaurant or have a short taxi ride. We'd like to go to Pigeon Island or Rodney Bay for lunch but with reports of $35 for one-way taxi fare to Pigeon Island, we'd rather spend the money for a good lunch in Castries.

How is the Piton beer? Any other good Caribbean beer worth considering? We like Banks beer in Barbados.

Any recommendations? Thanks!

Not sure where you read that the "other pier is under construction". Both La Place Carenage (where Chef Robbies is located) and Pointe Seraphine (the other pier/dock/shopping area) are wide open for business and ships. (docked at Pointe Seraphine last week).

Castries proper doesn't have much itself as fat as "nice restaurants" in walking distance. Lots of local food stands and eats, but minimal views, etc. Try Pink Plantation up the Morne, short cab ride, maybe $10-15us, beautiful views over the city, lovely grounds and great good.

Piton beer is a our local beer. It's a lager - not sure how you've been all over the island multiple times and never tried the beer!! It's a lager, somewhat similar to Corona or Caribe, etc.. very good. Most folks enjoy it much better than those though. Your main options will be Piton or Heineken for beer, both produced on Island.

Enjoy...

Thank you very much, reedprincess.

We were docked in St. Lucia the middle of this month at La Place Carenage. Our captain said we could not dock at the other pier as it was having work done to it and was closed. I didn't see any construction workers or work being done, however. No other cruise ships were in port that day other than Grandeur of the Sea which we were on. The other pier (Pointe Seraphine) is where we have always docked in the past.

We have recently discovered that the Caribbean beer is good, so we will probably try the beer again in some of our Caribbean ports. We are not beer drinkers, so that is why we haven't tried it in the past.

How is Chef Robbies? Is the food good there?

Thank you for your suggestions!

Update: Just looked up Pink Plantation on TripAdvisor. Looks good with good reviews! Do you know if they have free wifi? Is it easy to get a taxi back to Castries? Maybe our original taxi driver will agree to come back for us.

Taxi drivers will return for you at set time or Pink Plantation will arrange a return ride no problem at all.

There may have been some minimal work being done the day you were there, but the Pointe Seraphine dock is open for business, not under construction.

Chef Robbie's is decent, but not anything much special. It's right inside the port shops, so scenery, etc is minimal. Pink Plantation would give much more local flavor and much lovelier setting.

Auberge Seraphine is another option, closer to port. Great good, nice setting on the harbor.

Both should have some WiFi, but if not, you can always grab a Piton at Chef Robbies on your return and check in.

Enjoy your visit
