NancyC Posted April 1, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 1, 2017 In St. Lucia we simply wanted to see the local market, since we have toured the island in the past, which I highly recommend as I feel this is one of the most picturesque of the Caribbean islands. However if you have visited before to get to the market from Pointe Seraphine, where The Adventure of the Seas docked, you have 3 options to get to the local market. A taxi costs $5 per person. The water taxi, which is directly through the shops to the left back toward the water in a small hut at the end of a paved walkway, also costs $5 a person. The third option is to walk, about a 12 minute walk. We weren't sure of the distance, so we taxied around and then walked back. You are never out of sight of the ship, so you can't get lost and there is a wide sidewalk the whole way, but you are in the sun, so be prepared with a hat. I felt very safe and enjoyed seeing how locals live and shop. It is a mixture of tourist t-shirts and local fruits and fish. I went about 9:30 and some stalls were still setting up, but most were open and there was a nice breeze off the bay.
