Irish1010 Posted November 11, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2014 Does anyone know of a cruise line/stateroom or suite category that has a recliner as part of its furnishings? I would like to take my mother on an Alaskan cruise, a dream of hers, but she can't sleep in a bed. She needs to have a recliner-type chair. Enforcer Posted November 11, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 11, 2014 Hi, I would suggest that you contact the department of cruise lines that deals with accessibility issues and ask them. I have only had help and excellent service from them. Pete

There are no cruise lines that I'm aware that provide recliners . You would have to contact the Special Needs Dept of the cruise line that you're interested in to inquire. I'm guessing that you might have rent one and have it delivered to the ship provided the that cruise lines approved vender even has recliners to rent. You might want to consider calling www.specialneedsatsea.com and or www.carevacactions.com which are approved vendors to inquire if a reclner is even available to rent and have delivered to a cruise ship. Insuregal Posted November 11, 2014 #5 Share Posted November 11, 2014 I found a post from 2008 that said HAL MS Westerdam had a recliner in PH suite. Might be a place to check. Thanks!
nextcruiseis Posted November 11, 2014 #6 Share Posted November 11, 2014 Don't know about recliners but you can definitely rent a hospital bed (fully electric) as long as you are booked in an accessible cabin. Check with the cruise line to confirm the companies they work with (Special Needs at Sea and/or Care Vacations).
