takemewithyou Posted February 11, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2008 What's near the Fairmont Hotel - within walking distance? Any place to buy wine or alcohol? Major attractions? Restaurants? Coffee shops? Shopping? Anything we must see or do? Thanks, new to Seattle :D
SeattleCruiselover Posted February 11, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 11, 2008 The Fairmont is between 4th and Seneca and 4th and University. The Market is about three blocks west and three blocks north at 1st Av and Pike. There are several malls within six to eight blocks: Westlake Center at 4th & Pine; Pacific Place at 7th & Pine; City Centre at 6th & Pike; Rainier Square more or less right next to the Fairmont. Lots of restaurants, not much in the way of traditional "coffee shops" (unless you mean places like Starbucks, Tully's, Seattle's Best and such, and there are three of them on every corner). Depends on your desires/preferences. There is a Washington State Store at 2nd & Seneca. I think there might be a wine shop in the Market (I don't drink, so I don't hang out in those kind of places). Seattle Center/the Space Needle is about 1.5 miles north at Broad, Fifth and Denny. Pioneer Square is about 1-1.5 miles south at 1st & Yesler, and includes the Underground Tour. Sailorgirlseattle Posted February 11, 2008 #3 Share Posted February 11, 2008 Two wine shops at the Market: One near the corner by Steinbruck Park, and the other one inside De Laurenti's grocery store. I like De Laurenti's.
