Deefar Posted February 29, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 29, 2008 Is this a docking port or is there tendering?

bullydogsmama Posted February 29, 2008 #3 Share Posted February 29, 2008 It's a docking port. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. We did 21 days of the caribbean this winter and I sometime get a little confused:rolleyes: But The ports that we tendered to were Belize, samana, and Grand Cayman. DonMar Posted March 1, 2008 #4 Share Posted March 1, 2008 When there are two ships in port - one is docked and one is tendered. I really do not know how to find out which ship will be docked or tendered. We were on Costa Med a few weeks ago and we were tendered as there was another ship at the dock. ianmerc Posted March 1, 2008 #6 Share Posted March 1, 2008 That is a great link. I just used it to find out that the Sun is the only ship in Roatan on 4-22-08. Thank you very much.
Aprille Posted March 3, 2008 #7 Share Posted March 3, 2008 We were just in Roatan on Voyager last week. There was also a Costa ship in port. We were docked. Costa was anchored and tendered in. The dock will only handle one ship at a time. Our driver (booked thru Victor Bodden Tours) told us that RCCL has sunk a very large chunk of change ($50M) into Roatan and signed a 30 year deal there. They are responsible for all the construction going on in the dock area. So my guess is if there is an RCCL ship sheduled to be there at the same time as other ships, RCCL gets the dock. I believe our driver told us there can be as many as 3 ships there on the same day.

TxLnghrnz Posted March 4, 2008 #10 Share Posted March 4, 2008 Hmmm, sounds like our driver had the wrong cruiseline. :o Actually, your driver was correct... The current dock is under a 30-year management contract with Royal Caribbean. Carnival is building a completely different cruise ship dock a little further to the west of the existing one. There should be room for four ships docked (two at each dock -- Carnival's and Royal Caribbean's), plus facilities for tendering additional ships at each dock within the next two years! So, for those that want to see the "unspoiled" beauty of Roatan, book now...as things are changing very quickly at this port.
