Fort Lauderdale hotels?

It was the subject of a thread in December 2015: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2291578

I've driven by it. It looks like an old fashioned motel and is in a good neighborhood but on a busy street (route A1A) that has been undergoing construction (widening) for years but it looks like that will be done soon. The drawback is that it is on the north side of Fort Lauderdale which means a longer, more expensive cab/uber ride to/from the airport or port than the 17th street hotels.

Thanks, that's all good to know, it drew our attention because of it's very high TripAdvisor rating. We have a transfer problem anyway, we're flying to FLL but sailing from POM, as there are 4 of us a 24 rental of an SUV looks the best deal.

If you have a rental car that will definitely negate the high transfer costs. If you stay there and are arriving in time for dinner, Greek Islands Taverna just south (less than 1/2 mile) of the hotel is very good or go 1 1/2 miles north to Lauderdale-by-the-Sea and eat at one of the many restaurants in the Commercial Blvd block between A1A and the ocean (we like Aruba Beach Cafe right on the beach).
