Iamthesea Posted November 4, 2014 Author #26 Share Posted November 4, 2014 Thanks.;) We may just hold unto the miles and pay for the flight. Keep the miles for the next big trip and use with AA if they offer a lower redemption amount.
Rare Gardyloo Posted November 4, 2014 #27 Share Posted November 4, 2014 Thanks.;) We may just hold unto the miles and pay for the flight. Keep the miles for the next big trip and use with AA if they offer a lower redemption amount. The standard "rule of thumb" with mileage redemption is that it's lousy value for economy class awards. 60,000 miles for a ticket worth $1100 means the value per mile is under 2 cents, even less when you add in the taxes and fees you're hit with for some redemptions. On the other hand, 100,000 miles for a business class ticket worth $3500 is a much better deal. Those of us addicted to this game are very reluctant to spend miles on coach awards. Iamthesea Posted November 4, 2014 Author #28 Share Posted November 4, 2014 That's what I was thinking. DH and I have an Australian/New Zealand cruise planned for 2016. Might be better to use miles for that flight. Thank you, again! :)
