bluechips29 Posted February 26, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 26, 2009 This summer, we are planning to have our first cruise (solstice) I want to know what exactly the upper berth (bed) look like? Is it secure for a child to sleep in this upper berth bed? Can they fall down? Is it better to take a room with the double sofa bed or a room with a upper berth and a single sofa bed We are a family of four with kids age 7 and 10 Thank you
Janet987 Posted February 26, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 26, 2009 Here is a thread about upper berths, including photos. See my comments about space when trundle is open...my recommendation is the upper berth & sofa. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=856181
Longboysfan Posted February 26, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 26, 2009 The upper birth is a single bed that folds down out of the ceiling at night and is stored back in the ceiling during the day. My daughter used it on our trip a few months bac - Solstice also - and had no problems with it. There is a rail to make sure you do not fall out and a ladder to get in and out of with very easily. I think the kids will fight for that than the other birth. There is a bed - as I am told that is part of the couch. But the room steward said the top bunk was better - more comfortable han the couch bed. No matter which way you go it should not be a problem for them. (Eclipse out of Southampton) Looks good to me. I take it with the extra beda folded away there will be no problem?
