The Amsterdam will be calling on Santa Marta, Columbia, in January. I can't find a lot of information about this port. Can anyone tell me if there is much to do beyond a beach day? Thanks.

We booked a ship tour that did a museum tour, San Martin's memorial site and a lunch at a beach with a show. this was several year's ago when the country opened up the Azamara Quest was one of the first ships to visit. I am sure there is more. now.

We're booked on an excursion to Tayrona Park, the preamble to which is, "...Tayrona National Park, which sits at the foot of the world’s highest coastal mountain range. Like Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta National Park, which lies farther east, Tayrona is so revered for its ecosystem and cultural content that UNESCO declared it a Biosphere Reserve of Man and Humanity." There's monkeys, rainforest, an eco-walk, time on a beach.

I have no idea what it's like of course, but it sounds nice.
