The Beach at Blue Lagoon

We booked the Blue Lagoon excursion through our ship as the place looks beautiful and a great way to spend a few hours. One thing I never really asked....what is the beach like there?

 

Is the water calm or does it have some waves (I'm guessing the former since it's a lagoon)?

 

Is it rocky or sandy?

 

Does it get deeper slowly or gradually?
