offtraveling Posted August 10, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2009 We are staying at the Plaza Hotel in Dover prior to our Disney cruise June 2010. Has anyone stayed there? Reviews? TA booked it for us. Thanks,
Rare LHT28 Posted August 10, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 10, 2009 Have you looked on trip advisor? http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g186313-Dover_Kent_England-Hotels.html did not see any Plaza Hotel listed but they could have changed names If you have the address look it up that way or ask on the Dover Forum http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g186313-i1627-Dover_Kent_England.html
handfordr Posted August 11, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 11, 2009 The Ramada Plaza is on the edge of Dover, not in the town. Its a nice enough low rise chain hotel for an overnight in plenty of grounds with extensive gardens. Kind of chain hotel place that is very acceptable at the time but you probably won't remember a thing about it in a couple of years time. There is a small residential area adjacent with a pub, fish and chip shop, chinese and there is also a fast food burger place, can't remeber if its McDonalds or Burger King. If you're travelling independently its a bit out from the train/bus station in Dover, really most suitable for people with cars or tour parties. There is a local bus but i suspect it shuts down early. If you are travelling independently I'd look at the Premier Inn Dover Central, a new hotel down in the town which is comparable to the Ramada but much more conveniently located. lbroadbent Posted August 23, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 23, 2009 Yeah - Ramada is a few miles out. In addition to the big hotel mentioned above, consider a very pleasant and reasonably priced B&B, The Restover. We had a small but spotless clean room, with private bathroom and full English breakfast included for three of us for 75 pounds a night. That's less than half of the big hotel. We could walk into the town and down to the water front. check out the website at doversrestover.co.uk or email adamoum@aol.com
uppitycats Posted August 23, 2009 #5 Share Posted August 23, 2009 We booked in the Premier Inn Dover Central primarily because it has a handicap-accessible room. I'm glad to see it has positive recommendations! :)
