If you like the beach, go on the RCL excursion to Cayo Levantado. It is an island in the middle of the bay with an exclusive resort on it. You don't have access to the resort, but the beach is beautiful and chairs are included. There is plenty of shade, bars, and a restaurant to get food. We had a very enjoyable day there in 2008. From what I hear, going into port is not a good idea unless you have arranged for a private tour with a local guide. This excursion includes the tender to and from the beach. You cannot get there any other way except with RCL.We did this excursion in March - it was wonderful - one of the prettiest beaches we have ever been to. Guys did come and set up and cleaned loungers for us - tipped them. But other than that no one bothered you on the beach and it was beautiful. Would go there again in a second. We did not venture into town after being told there wasn't much there and the locals were very persistant in trying to sell their goods.
FYI you will tender from the ship which anchors in the middle of the bay.
