4lifeinnh Posted February 5, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2012 I am 48, my DM is 77. We are cruising in May and I put a dep down on 1/30. I went to squaremouth on 2/4 to look for insurance. I was pleasantly surprised to see that buying insurance so close to the dep date, many companies include coverage for pre-existing conditions at no extra cost. This saved me $$ on my DM's coverage. But read what's covered as some companies do not include it. Just an FYI. BTW, squaremouth was great. Called them and they were very helpful. 6rugrats Posted February 5, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 5, 2012 To be able to have "pre-existing condition" coverage, most companies require you to purchase the insurance policy within a set number of days from the date you made the inital payment for your trip (usually 14-21 days). So, as long as you were medically fit for travel the date you purchased the policy, and it was within this time period, it doesn't matter what the date of your cruise is. mellerswa Posted February 9, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 9, 2012 You are absolutely right, however, if you waited (but not too long), TravelInsured's Worldwide Trip Protector Gold will let you get free pre-existing coverage at 30 days.
